A survey suggests there needs to be more education around medicinal cannabis.

The country's biggest licensed medicinal cannabis company, Helius Therapeutics, conducted the research which involved almost 1100 medical professionals.

Just six per cent say they feel 'very informed' about the products.

Executive director, Paul Manning, told Mike Yardley there's an opportunity for doctors and the public to learn.

"Doctors in New Zealand understandable haven't had a lot of exposure to medical cannabis products to date, so there is a big opportunity for us to do more education."
