Des Gorman: We should be concerned, not alarmed with Omricon variant of Covid

Here in New Zealand, the Government has introduced travel restrictions for several southern African countries, in defence against the Omicron variant of Covid-19, and expects to pick up any cases through routine border testing and managed isolation. 

Auckland University Emeritus Professor of Medicine Des Gorman told Mike Hosking we should be concerned, but not alarmed. 

“I think we’re taking the appropriate cautious steps, but I don’t think there’s any reason to get ahead of ourselves.”
