The Government is working on the basis Britain will leave the EU next month, with or without a deal.
Britain's International Trade Secretary Liz Truss has been meeting with Trade Minister David Parker Wellington to discuss a post-Brexit trade deal.
Parker told Mike Hosking they're working to get a deal over the line as soon as possible after next month's Brexit deadline.
"We can start negotiations promptly straight after Brexit.
"In fact, they need to because these uncertainties need to be resolved before we can conclude a free trade agreement with them."
