Celebrities at the Cannes Film Festival have made a stand this year, after organisers tried to impose a high heel rule on the red carpet.
The rule was met with protests last year, and the wardrobe objections have been dressed up on the red carpet at this year's festival.
France correspondent Catherine Field told Mike Hosking some refused to wear shoes entirely.
"Julia Roberts turned up barefoot to go up the red carpet this year- she said she wasn't going to be wearing high heels, and of course Kirsten Stewart, she turned up wearing sneakers."
The festival runs for the rest of the week.
