The Government wants out of work New Zealanders to put up their hands for seasonal summer work.
It's offering unemployed Kiwis up to $200 a week for accommodation costs, and a $1000 payment for workers who complete jobs of six weeks, or longer.
Minister for Social Development Carmel Sepuloni told Mike Hosking they're aiming to break down barriers that make seasonal work difficult.
"Transport, location, accommodation and paying conditions are all factors we've considered, and are working on."
Sepuloni says the package isn't expected to be a long term solution to the shortage.
She says it will be reviewed over the next two years.
