According to NZ Post, we are shopping online more frequently than ever before and we spent $765 million in October alone.
NZ Post has brought on hundreds of extra workers to help out with the work increase but that still only means that they are delivering about half of the parcels being delivered on time in Auckland and Hamilton.
And we still have two of our biggest shopping days coming up in the next two weeks.
Chief customer officer for NZ Post Bryan Dobson said people wanting to send gifts this Christmas should start now.
He told Mike Hosking they’re now heading into their busy period.
“I’m incredibly proud of the work our people have done in the last three months during lockdown.”
He said in the course of four to five weeks, they upped their delivery capacity by 70%.
