The National Party is looking for a new candidate in the Clutha-Southland seat, now that Hamish Walker has quit.
He admitted to passing on private details of Covid-19 patients to the media.
Clutha Mayor Brian Cadogan says people in the Clutha Southland electorate are stunned and disappointed with Walker's actions.
He told Mike Yardley most people believe there's more to come in the saga.
"It’s just so messy, and the loose ends have yet to be explained yet.
"Everyone is waiting for the full story to come out. Hamish is a good guy, he had a job for life, but he’s absolutely shredded it."
