The film industry wants to see managed isolation expanded.
Newstalk ZB can reveal the Government rejected Amazon's efforts to sidestep MIQ for Lord of the Rings in August last year.
They offered to secure entire hotels, rental properties and holiday homes for a private MIQ but were turned down.
Screen Industry Guild President Brendon Durey told Mike Hosking they represent millions in brand new money coming in.
“Some of these narratives about it being a spending hard-earning taxpayers’ money, it’s just not true. We need to encourage this sort of inflow of money into the country and have MIQ spots to do that is essential.”
