Newly married couples are shunning the tradition of the honeymoon and are going on holiday without each other in a new trend.
Known as “solomoons”, a rising number of married couples are opting to go to different locations from one another for their trip.
The term already has nearly 1500 mentions on Instagram with solo travellers posting pictures of their trip.
Director of Relate Counselling Steve Dromgool told Mike Hosking it does raise some questions on why couples would want to take part in the new trend.
"It seems to be a celebration of differences when the whole idea of marriage is committing to be with someone.
"I'm sure there are some examples which make sense to do this, but I do think people doing this trend are the exception and not the norm."
