Michael Scott is at peace with his decision to leave his role as chief executive at High Performance Sport New Zealand.

He has spent three years at the helm and has not seen through an Olympic cycle.

Scott will leave the position in April to move home to Australia.

Scott has earned a taxpayer-funded salary between $390,000 and $400,000, as documented in the most recent annual report.

Sport New Zealand chief executive Raelene Castle will step into the role at the end of April in an acting capacity.
