The Prime Minister isn't writing off Labour just yet, despite the opposition's dismal showing in a new political poll.

Labour's popularity has slumped to just 24 percent in the latest Colmar Brunton Poll - its lowest result in more than 20 years.

Bill English told Mike Hosking the Greens have benefited from Labour's woes, and the left still has plenty of political pull.

"Labour have been struggling for a while in all the polling.

"The Greens have now got welfare with no responsibility, and New Zealand First's policy is they'll do everything for everybody wherever, but they can still be the government."

English said the Government still has a fight on its hands.

"On that poll last night, the current Government would lose the election, so we've got a lot of hard work to do over the next two months, because we've got to get our support up."
