More than $100 million is being spent on additional housing for the homeless to ensure they have a place to self-isolate.
The Government's announced 1600 new units will be made available for long term housing, as well as $31 million in wrap-around social services.
Monte Cecelia Housing Chief Executive Bernie Smith told Tim Dower that even with the extra support, it's likely we'll still see people on the streets after the pandemic.
"There are people who just prefer to live on their own. No rent, no other commitments, do their own thing when they want, how they want."
He says that those being isolated will be separated by friends, which can be a problem for them.Â
However, Smith says that the lockdown would have forced some people to take shelter.Â
