Whenever there is some kind of disaster in this country, there is also always a group that stands up.
After the earthquakes it was the Student Volunteer Army - could it be Project Reach this time around?
Project Reach has been set up by 21-year-old Ben Julian and helps connect volunteers with those who need help.
And it already has 20,000 volunteers lined up who are willing to offer their services with many more expecting to flood in.
Ben Julian joined Mike Hosking to talk about the organisation.
