There's strong opposition to a proposal to extend Auckland's Halsey Wharf for the America's Cup.
Team New Zealand wants to extend the wharf by three-hectares for all the syndicate bases.
Councillors are set to hear six different options for the syndicate bases today, including the Halsey Wharf option.
But architect Barry Copeland told Mike Hosking this choice would eventually turn into an empty wharf, that no one visits.
"It's a kind of like three-hectare industrial park sitting right there out on the harbour, blocking access and views."
