The international film industry has its eyes on New Zealand as we leave lock down and the country makes progress containing the virus.

Film Commission chief executive, Annabelle Sheehan, told Mike Hosking film projects that want to come to the country are ones that had to be paused during lock down or were about to start.

She says they're ready to spend nearly $400 million and trigger more than 3000 jobs.

"We also believe that with the right infrastructure, we could almost double that over the next 12 months, which would be well above average for New Zealand."
