An energy company has been given the green light to establish a network of hydrogen fuelling stations.
The Infrastructure Reference Group has approved $20-million to Hiringa Energy for the nationwide roll-out.
Chief executive Andrew Clennett told Mike Hosking it will make heavy trucking more sustainable.
“There’s a clear role for technology like Hydrogen to make this happen.”
Clennett says they're hoping to have 24 stations by about 2025.
He says this will cover the main transport hubs, and although diesel is cheap now, we need to think about long-term sustainability.
