An interview regarding reports creationism is being taught in school quickly took a different turn this morning.

Yesterday, Newsroom reported that former students at Mt Hobson Middle School say they were taught creationism as the preferred theory of how the world was created.

The story named Rachel O'Connor, Simon Bridges sister and the wife of a National Party MP, who taught at that school.

Alwyn Poole, a Villa Education Trust board member and principal of Mt Hobson Middle School, told Mike Hosking there is another side to the story.

"The student's recollection of the teacher's statements and the ability to discuss are highly flawed."

That other side of the story? An exploding toilet!
