Water is being seen as a three-legged stool that won't function with even one leg missing.

The Government hass working on a proposal to trim the country’s 67 council providers down to four regional bodies.

The Water Industry Commission for Scotland says up to $185 billion will be needed in the next 30 years to upgrade our drinking water, stormwater, and sewage infrastructure.

Chief Executive Alan Sutherland told Mike Hosking good management and effective economic and environmental water quality regulations are needed.

“And then you need real clarity on governments and the objectives that the industry is going to be asked to tackle.”

Alan Sutherland says that's why amalgamation is a sensible way forward.
