People with Down’s Syndrome and those in their inner circles remain upset by Shortland Street’s unfolding storyline.

The soap opera has copped controversy after starting a storyline where long-running character Chris Warner suggests his partner should abort their child over fears it has Down’s Syndrome.

Speaking with Kerre McIvor, Felicity, who has Down’s Syndrome, and her friend Beth say the storyline is hard to watch.

"I think it would be hard for anyone to watch for anyone associated with Down’s Syndrome people as they are amazing,” Beth says.

She says that the use of ‘munted’ by the soap to describe Down’s Syndrome people was “cruel”.
