There is concern the reputation of New Zealand wine has been tarnished.
Wine company Yealands Estate has been fined $400,000 for tempering with wine destined for Europe
It added sugar to 3.8 million litres of wine post fermentation, which is against EU market rules.
Former Chairman of the Wine Growers Association Stuart Smith told Larry Williams it's yet to be seen how much it will hurt New Zealand's reputation.
"In this case not only did they break the rules they also didn't complete their records correctly, which is really disappointing."
