Supergold Card intended for over 65's are being fraudulently used by people too young to get them.

The cards get the elderly free off peak public transport, cheaper fuel and other discounts at some retailers.

President of Grey Power Mac Welch told Larry Williams they have been lobbying the Government to turn it into a photo I D card.

"But not necessarily from the fraud angle, though that's a recent thing that's happened. The amount of fraud is increasing quite rapidly based on anecdotal evidence."

Welch says they want the card as a photo ID because a lot of older people no longer have a drivers licence or passport, especially with financial institutions insisting on photo ID.
