National’s looking at whether parents should cop fines if their kids drop out of school early, and don’t head into tertiary education, or get a job.
This is just one of the policies under consideration as part of the Party’s social policy review.
Tolaga Bay Area School’s Sam Hughes told Kerre McIvor the plan is flawed.
He said "We have the highest rates of unemployment and we have the highest rates of school leavers that leave without qualifications, so you imagine what that wold do to a whanau that's already under socio-economic stress."Â
The review is due to be unveiled later this month.
