Djokovic and Williams won Wimbledon; the Warriors beat the Storm, and Lydia Ko missed out at the US Open.

At the risk of giving it oxygen - the media are infatuated with Twitter. J.K. Rowling Twitters Serena Williams "I love her. What an athlete, what a role model, what a woman!" Some idiot replies "she is built like a man" and Twitter and the media go into a frenzy. Its pathetic. Wonderful wins by Djokovic and Williams. Serena Williams is up with the all time greats.

As for the Warriors. They are stressful to watch. They had the Storm on the ropes. They let the Storm back in when they should have closed them out. And then they produce some of the greatest plays you will ever see and its good night Storm.

Lydia Ko finished down the pack in the US Open. She still shot 1 under par. She's a freak is Ko, and I'm sure she will win a major one day. But there are also a lot of other freaks out there. It could take a while.

Labour has been doing a little racial profiling to reach the conclusion that too many Chinese are buying houses in Auckland.

The stats come from an unidentified real estate firm thought to be Barfoot and Thompson.

Labour has been mining residential property data on Chinese ownership. Labour has an algorithm that if you've got a Chinese sounding name then you must be from Mainland China with no intention to live here. Phil Twyford has set out to target the Chinese over other foreign buyers. The end game is a bunch of wild assumptions.

The percentage of Chinese non-resident investors buying a house is unknown but thought to be about 5%. The new rules introduced will be a de-facto register and this should clarify it all.

Now look, I don't know what the true picture is but we have record migrants and they buy houses.

What I see is a knee jerk reaction by Labour.

Labour has suddenly introduced a new housing policy - Twyford says that "we would ban foreign buyers from buying New Zealand houses, end of story. We're going to ban foreign buyers".

Respected economist Tony Alexander from the BNZ says we should look at introducing restrictions like Australia -meaning foreigners buying new dwellings only. However, that is no panacea as Australia is finding out.

Labour wants to go further - a complete ban.

Some say this is racist, but I see it more as xenophobic, drumming up fear like we are tenants in our own country, its bottom of the barrel stuff. Its desperate stuff.

It's extreme and dangerous policy.
