Concerns about Auckland's Queen Street have reached the court room.

Lawyers for the Save the Queen Street Society have served judicial review proceedings on the Council.

The council's been trying to make the thoroughfare more people-friendly, by widening footpaths and adding public spaces - but businesses want it to stop.

Heart of the City is part of the action. Chief Executive Viv Beck told Andrew Dickens they've acted because otherwise, the plans would kick in next week.

"We know there are people who are not aware of these changes and we felt it was very important that we ensured people areĀ  aware of what is actually proposed here."
