A two-week extension has been for submissions on the Government's freshwater document.

Environment Minister David Parker says it will now accept submissions up to 5pm on October 31, pushing the six-week period out to eight.

DairyNZ had been one of the voices calling for an extension.

Chief executive Dr Tim Mackle told Heather du Plessis Allan it's great news.

He says two weeks is possibly not long enough but they have listened, which is a great thing.
