Backlash from a Government public service pay freeze is falling on deaf ears in the Beehive.
The Finance Minister's making no apologies for freezing rises for three years for those topping $100,000 and limiting them for those earning more than $60,000.
Grant Robertson says he's looking after those in need, and is focusing on the 25 percent of state servants who earn less than $60,000.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern says nothing will change for existing pay increases already negotiated.
The freeze has been criticised by multiple unions.Â
APEX union national secretary Dr Deborah Powell fears hard-to-replace radiation therapists, psychologists and lab scientists will leave the country, and Post Primary Teachers' Association President Melanie Webber says they are also concerned about losing people.
