The Defence Minister's satisfied an anti-diversity essay was pulled offline after it had won an army writing competition.

Peeni Henare had words with Defence Force Chief Air Marshal Kevin Short yesterday, once he heard about the piece being published.

Henare's unsure whether he spoke to Short before or after the article was removed.

The essay argues the Army should not try reconcile workforce diversity with a warrior ethos

Henare says he's looking forward from here, as they need to make sure it doesn't happen again in the future.

Meanwhile, the Janssen Covid-19 vaccine has a green-light from Medsafe.

It's the second vaccine approved for use in New Zealand, along with Pfizer.

However, former MP Richard Prebble has suggested that the Government could have paid more to get the Pfizer vaccine earlier - rather than be one of the last in the developed world to start a rollout.
