A warning for employees being asked to unwillingly take pay cuts.
Businesses across the country are taking a financial hit amid the coronavirus level-4 lockdown.
As a result, many are asking staff to take reduced pay.
But employment lawyer Susan Hornsby-Geluk told Heather du Plessis-Allan employers can't enforce pay cuts without staff’s consent.
"There has been confusions created by the advice that employers should make the best endeavours to pay 80 per cent, and employers have taken that as a license to unilaterally reduce pay, but you can't do that."
