A solution for travel to and from Auckland's North Shore while the Harbour Bridge is broken.

People are being urged to use public transport to ease congestion - with four lanes closed on the bridge.

But for those with cash to spare, Helitranz is offering people an air commute - a $190 for a one way flight, depending on passenger numbers.

Co-owner Sofia Ambler told Heather du Plessis-Allan some have taken up the chance already.

"We've just done one run now to the airport that didn't want to sit in the airport, and we do have ones for tomorrow."
