Simon Bridges says he's happy to take a seat at the table with the Coalition on coronavirus.
National's hit back at much of the government's virus response - including a minimum wage increase next month.
However, Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern has called for all political parties to work together on the outbreak, telling TVNZ that they should "pool resources".
"I made the point in the House that actually this is a global issue and it's also obviously affecting all of New Zealand and will do for some time. There's no need for us to put politics into that."
Bridges told Heather du Plessis-Allan the party wants to be constructive - but he thinks party differences mean National's not being listened to.
"I don't know if we're going to get around a difference in opinion.
"If the Government doesn't take our suggestions, ultimately that's their call."
He says that, in an economic crisis, people will end up on the benefit if the minimum wage goes ahead.Â
Bridges says one thing the government's done right is urging the public not to panic.
Ardern told TVNZ that they are mainly looking to work together on economic policy, as health and safety comes from government advice.Â
