There is surprise at the Prime Minister's decision to stop appearing on Newstalk ZB on Monday mornings.

Jacinda Ardern has axed her weekly slot on the Mike Hosking Breakfast show.

She claims no one can do everything - and she'll still be on the show when there are issues of national significance.

Former Chief Press Secretary for John Key, Sia Aston, told Heather du Plessis Allan that you have to front, no matter how uncomfortable the issues.

"Mike Hosking has a massive Breakfast audience. That’s a big opportunity to speak directly to a large number of New Zealanders.

"It’s a lost opportunity for the Prime Minister."
