Aucklanders have paid 515 million dollars in regional fuel taxes since 2018, meant to help fund transport projects and solve congestion issues.  

But instead of using the money, Auckland Council is sitting on a goldmine. It's spent less than half the money, and still has 285 million in its coffers.  

National says it undermines claims that the tax is essential to fund projects that Auckland needs.
