The Road Transport Forum's warning that New Zealand's access to essential goods may be under threat if freight begins to build up at our ports.
With the country at Covid-19 alert level four, many non-essential businesses that would normally be receiving imported freight are unable to, because they are closed.
CEO Nick Leggatt told Heather du Plessis Allan it won't be long before they start running out of room.
"There's nowhere for it to go so we're actually are going to very quickly need massive storage to be able to receive stuff, and then we've got the other problem where if stuff is staying in containers, then we've got a shortage of containers as well at some point."
