The Prime Minister's father says the attention surrounding Jacinda's baby is a "trifle weird".

Proud grandfather Ross Ardern says he'll meet the little girl for first time next week.

He told Heather du Plessis-Allan name suggestions for the baby are flying thick and fast.

"Every member of the family both from Clarke's side and Jacinda's side have given a humpteen dozen suggestions and we are still none the wiser."
