A simple laundry hack known as ‘laundry stripping’ is blowing people’s minds on social media.
The trick sees people filling their bathtub with water, adding borax from the hardware store, and then they're putting their seemingly clean towels and linen in only to find out that in fact they were really dirty.
However, researcher Michelle Dickinson told Heather du Plessis-Allan says that people might be mistaking dye for dirt while doing this trick.Â
She says that borax is the "old school" way of doing laundry.
"Borax is actually already in your laundry detergent."
However, Dickinson says that it's not good for your health, so people should avoid doing the hack.
"It can impair fertility, it can damage unborn children. It takes five grams of borax to kill your pet or child."
However, only a small amount of borax is in regular washing powder.Â
