An intolerable breach.

A worker in a managed isolation facility has been sacked after exchanging notes with a returnee, delivering them a bottle of wine - and spending 20 minutes in their room.

Epidemiologist Michael Baker told Heather du Plessis-Allan there was a similar scenario in Australia which led to a severe Covid outbreak in Melbourne.

He says we cannot tolerate this kind of behaviour, particularly in staff at facilities where they're paid to follow protocols and be responsible.

More than 36,000 tests have been completed in the past week, 22,000 of those in the community, since the positive cases were confirmed. No new cases have been identified.
