MediaWorks has sold its free-to-air TV operations to Discovery, with the sale expected to be completed by the end of the year.
The cash-strapped New Zealand media company announced its intention to sell the TV arm last October.
MediaWorks' Chief executive Michael Anderson told Heather Du Plessis Allan it's been a long process, but he's happy with the outcome.
Anderson says it "delivers a robust, competitive, sustainable free to air television network".
Discovery already offers Kiwis free-to-air channels HGTV and Choice TV, and six pay channels, including Discovery, TLC, Animal Planet, and the Food Network.
