Lime says low usage is the reason it has pulled out of the Hutt Valley for the winter.

The e-scooter giant announced the decision yesterday. It means there will be no Limes in Wellington at all.

It launched in Upper and Lower Hutt last December and since then more than 50,000 people have used the service.

Lime New Zealand Public Affairs Manager Lauren Mentijox told Heather du Plessis-Allan it is not a permanent decision and they will be back when the weather is warmer.

She says Hutt Valley residents will be able to use the scooters until Monday.
