Over in the US, President Joe Biden is set to announce new 100 percent tariffs for Chinese EVs.

This is the latest bid from the Biden administration to keep China from undercutting US companies and impacting manufacturing jobs, as Biden fights for a second term in the US election.

Drive Electric Chair Kirstin Corson says China doesn't have plans to send EVs like the BYD-produced seagull to the US anyway.

"They're just entering some of those new markets, but certainly BYD in New Zealand's doing exceptionally well. They're in our top 5 selling EVs in the country."
