With only five weeks left until Christmas, retailers and hospitality businesses are hoping for a spending spree before they call it a year.
Jarden's Economist John Carran told Heather du Plessis-Allan he expects people to spend plenty this Christmas season because of the pent-up urges through lockdown.
“There will be a bounce back but it could be a bit more challenging next year.”
He said one of the reasons behind this is increased interest rates.
Carran said people might also be a little more cautious about physically going out and spending due to Covid.
