Farming leaders have today proposed a way to price greenhouse gas emissions created on farms. Â
Under the model, individual farmers would be responsible for calculating their own emissions and paying a levy on those emissions.Â
The levy would increase progressively over the years but it can be reduced by planting native trees for example. Â
It's now up to the Government to decide whether it's on board with the idea.Â
Jim van der Poel, the chair at Dairy NZ, joined Heather du Plessis-Allan.Â
