A new political poll shows support for minor parties is moving about.

The latest One News Colmar Brunton poll puts Labour on 48 per cent, and National on 31.

Support has grown to seven percent - the highest the party has been on for 17 years - while the Green Party os on six.

Herald Political reporter Jason Walls told Heather du Plessis-Allan with New Zealand First on two per cent, it appears to be out of the picture.

He says it's clear Winston Peters' tactic of taking aim at Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern isn't doing him any favours.

"His tactic has been to say to New Zealanders they need to take out some insurance on Labour be voting NZ First.

"The numbers today and the numbers we've seen thus far show that tactic is just not working."

Ardern and National Party leader Judith Collins will go head-to-head in a debate on TVNZ from 7pm.
