Hundreds of people have gathered in central Christchurch for Prince William's walkabout.
It's the Duke of Cambridge's only major public event, after spending much of the day meeting with survivors of the mosque attacks.
The prince is taking his time, stopping to talk to Cantabrians, pause for hundreds of photos and selfies, shielding his eyes in the late autumn sun.
Newstalk ZB Reporter Jack Loader is at the National Earthquake Memorial.
He told Heather Du Plessis Allan Prince William has been walking near the banks of the Avon River, after laying a wreath at the memorial.
The people of Christchurch are thankful he's here. It shows New Zealand's deep connection to the Commonwealth."
Prince William last visited the city just weeks after the 2011 Earthquake.
