In West Auckland, where alcohol can’t be sold in supermarkets - Trust owned liquor shops are allowed to stay open - smaller independent shops have had to close.
Hopscotch Beer owner Hugh Grierson says there's a lot of politics that is causing the smaller stores to shut.
“We're allowed to trade but we're not under MBIE rules, because we're not essential.”
