Politics causing smaller liquor stores in West Auckland to shut

It seems new lockdown, same old issues.

Greengrocers and butchers have told to shut whilst supermarkets remain open.

In West Auckland, where alcohol can’t be sold in supermarkets - Trust owned liquor shops are allowed to stay open - smaller independent shops have had to close.

Hopscotch Beer owner Hugh Grierson says there's a lot of politics that is causing the smaller stores to shut.

“We're allowed to trade but we're not under MBIE rules, because we're not essential.”
