There are concerns about a new bill which allows security staff of world leaders to bring their guns into the country.
The bill, which supports security preparations for hosting the APEC forum in 2021, has passed its first reading.
It will allow the staff of those world leaders to bring in their weapons with them.Â
Gun Control New Zealand co-founder Hera Cook says it's a bad idea - because New Zealanders have made a lot of effort to make the country safer after the mosque attacks.
"There's a lot of gun owners out there who have had to give up their guns and the rest of us have had to give up a lot of our tax money to buy back those guns, so we are in a safer country."
The Green Party will oppose the law.Â
