Retail NZ is raising the spectre of robots replacing staff in the workplace.

Debate on Fair Pay Agreements has reignited - as its Bill reaches the select committee stage.

It's expected to become law by the end of the year, but Business NZ and Retail NZ remain extremely opposed.

Retail NZ Chief Executive Greg Harford told Heather du Plessis Allan Fair Pay Agreements will drive up staff costs - and encourage productivity improvements.
