The government has cut fuel tax by 25 cents a litre from 11.59pm tonight, for three months.  

The cost of public transport will be halved from the first of April for three months.  

The Auckland fuel tax has not been touched. 

Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Grant Robertson joined Andrew Dickens.
