Finance minster Grant Robertson joins Mike Yardley to talk about the official cash rate decision to be made on Wednesday.
ANZ warned last week the Reserve Bank's plan to force trading banks to increase their capital reserves will end up costing customers.
Robertson says although the Reserve Bank will make the final decision, he's focused on maintaining a safe and secure banking system that New Zealanders can have confidence in.
Wednesday's decision will be the to be made by a committee.
Robertson says the law around a committee making the decision was put forward so that New Zealand could be more up to speed with the rest of the world.
He feels it makes a better environment and brings in different perspectives.
The committee has four internal members and three external members.
