There are hopes SkyCity Casino, hotel and restaurants will be open from 8pm tonight.
Fire and Emergency are confident the fire at SkyCity's unfinished convention centre is under control.
SkyCity CEO Graeme Stephens told Heather du Plessis-Allan they're still dealing through emergency services and have no idea what damage has been done.
Their main focus, he says, has been on reopening.
"We got the clearance from emergency services early this morning that it would be safe, so we've had our cleaning teams in and we've had science-based people testing the air quality, its all fine."
Fire and Emergency are shifting to a 'recovery' phase, and are confident they have the fire at the unfinished convention centre under control.
Work's under way to pump eight million litres of water out of the centre's basement carpark.
Stephens says about a hundred staff cars parked there were submerged.
"Staff will be compensated. We've sent a message to them. Some damage unfortunately, but SkyCity is stepping up to make sure no staff members are out of pocket."
He says that SkyCity maintains its relationship with Fletcher Building, remains unchanged.
"The team within SkyCity is very bonded through the emergency and crisis, and likewise we have interacted very constructively with Fletcher."
